Nokia’s doing far better than rivals like Sony Ericsson and Motorola, but it’s not going to let up while it’s ahead — the cellphone maker is reportedly cutting prices across the board in order to increase pressure on the competition. The biggest cuts are on the 5310/ 5610 music phones and the 8GB N81, but most other handsets have seen price decreases of up to 10 percent as well. The move is something of a surprise, with one analyst calling it a “Crazy Ivan,” which is probably the first time The Hunt For Red October has ever been employed to describe the actions of a multinational corporation. So, Espoo — does this mean the Tube is going to be crazy cheap, or what?

Estimates are that 12,000 laptops are lost or stolen each week at airports and that only 30 percent of owners are successful in retrieving the asset. Over half of them (estimated) contain confidential or personal information, making the losses even more costly.
The use of Internet tracking systems ? which send (to a hosted service) periodic updates of asset location via a small agent loaded on the asset ? can help increase the likelihood of asset recovery. Most of these services, such as Computrace LoJack for Laptops, are commercial (i.e. require a software purchase and a monthly or yearly fee), and some even work directly with law enforcement in the event your system is lost or stolen. If you are willing to go the more open source route, or just cannot afford the commercial options, Adeona may just be what you?ve been looking for.

Flickr’s co-founder Caterina Fake (left in the picture) has announced that she will join new startup called Hunch.
In her blog post on the matter, Fake says that she will be joining Hunch as Chief Product Officer. She said
“What is Hunch? Well, as you might assume, it is a consumer internet application, it will have a lot of user participation, and it is more than a little fun. Beyond that, we’re still making it up.”
And this doesn’t explains properly what actualy Hunch is about.
Adobe has started inviting users for pre-release testing for its AIR technology for Linux.
Ashutosh Sharma of Adobe Blogs says:
To iron out as many issues as possible before coming out with a public beta release on Adobe Labs, we’d like to invite users to help test pre-release builds. If you’re interested and comfortable working with pre-release software, please send an email to the AIR Linux program manager at abaweja – at – adobe – dot – com with answers to the following questions (picked from James Ward’s post before the first Labs release):
1. Will you be able to submit bug reports on issues that you find back to our development team?
2. How many hours a week can you spend testing on Linux?
3. What is the primary distribution of Linux that you’re using? If you are using more than one distribution, please list.
4. Will you be developing applications on your Linux machine (as opposed to writing on Windows and testing the applications on Linux)?
5. What other operating system are you using, if any (Mac, Windows)? Can you compare the behavior of AIR for Linux with AIR for Windows and AIR for Mac OS?

Sun is entering in RIA(Rich Internet Application) market with thier JavaFX SDK and this week, developers will be able to try thier hands on JavaFX SDK Preview.
According to company’s official blog
We are now in the final push to get the first Preview Release of the JavaFX SDK out the door for the end of the month. I’m excited by what we’ve put together but also exhausted.
Sun official Joshua Marinacci wrote on July 16.
Since JavaOne 2007 we’ve built (from scratch), a compiler for a new language with many non-trivial features, a GUI runtime with a new graphics and animation stack, new Netbeans plugins with code completion, utilities for graphic designers, a new kind of javadocs (rewritten from the ground up), plus docs, samples, and demos. And that’s not even counting the many improvements that are going into Java SE 6 update 10.”
Its a huge effort by Sun, the thing is now how they are going to compete with RIA market giants like Adobe Flash and Microsoft Silverlight. Sun needs a year to make this thing highly effective. We must not forget Sun was the one that overwhelmed the world with its Java language in late 90s.
Sun’s JavaFx framework will enable developers span the desktop, browser, mobile devices, and even televisions. The greatest thing sun always provide is ease for platform independence.

Sony have released PlayStation 3 Firmware update version 2.42 – but it’s minor fixes all the way so don’t expect anything game changing.
Following the problems with v2.40, you would imagine that Sony has been fairly careful in making sure that this minor update does not break thousands of PS3s but that isn’t going to stop people advising users to wait a while and let someone else try things out.

T3 has idealized in these graphics that how a coffin of a “fanboy” can be.
Granted, these choices aren’t actually on offer from Creative Coffins, however the environmentally-friendly company promises a full bespoke service, where they’re able to “create almost any design from the dignified and beautiful to the quirky or humorous”. What about from Halo 3’s Master Chief, to a GTA IV-inspired design, though? We mocked up six images of coffins we’d love to be buried in, take a look through the gallery on the right.
Microsoft has taken a step for promotion of their software development technologies. They are giving away Windows Embedded Server Products Evaluation Software for free. By registering users can use plenty of useful software.
The software products that are bundled inside the Windows Embedded Server Products Evaluation Software package include:
- Windows Server 2008 for Embedded Systems
- Windows Storage Server 2003 R2
- Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003
- Windows Server 2003 R2 for Embedded Systems
- Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2006
- Windows Server 2003 for Embedded Systems with the Server Appliance Software Version 3.0
- Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006
According to My Digital Life:
The download is primarily intended for Original Equipment Manufacturers (”OEMs”) developing Dedicated Server solutions, and it includes a variety of tools for creating fixed-function Dedicated Server products built on Windows Server 2003 technology. However, everybody can register and complete a simply registration process to download the Windows Embedded Server Products evaluation products and also the product keys necessary to activate the product to run the software and build dedicated server and server appliance solutions.
And, although it’s named as evaluation software, but all downloads are pretty much the full licensed and full version apps with the licensed product keys provided during the registration process. The catch is that installation of most Windows Embedded Server Products evaluation software requires a licensed copy of Windows Server 2003 be successfully installed on the target system prior to use.
Register and download the Windows Embedded Server Products Evaluation Software with genuine product keys from microsoft.download-ss.com.
There are always some expectations for next version of products with better stuff. According The Apple Blog new MacBooks are rumoured to appear in end of September with following “rumourmilled” highlights from different sources:

) - No Intel chipsets (the CPU will still be Intel–not going back to PowerPC), looking at AMD, VIA, or nVidia (so finally Apple fanboys have other choice too )
- One long piece of aluminum for the body of all three notebooks (See it and smile)
Lets see what happens
Hewlett-Packard, Intel and Yahoo are partnering for cloud computing research and education in order to advance the development and adoption of large-scale, data-intensive Internet-hosted applications and related IT infrastructure.
By banding together, the trio of computer industry titans hopes to foster collaboration among vendors, universities and government agencies around cloud computing, whose progress is hampered by “financial and logistical barriers,” the companies said Tuesday.
ntel, Yahoo and HP are forming the Cloud Computing Test Bed, which they describe as a global, multi-data center, open-source effort designed to promote research on software, data center management and hardware for large-scale, Internet-hosted computing.
Partners in the initiative include the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the National Science Foundation and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany

Dell has releases its ‘Studio Hybrid’ range – with the low cost desktop aimed squarely at the ecologically-minded and the media PC brigade.
The funky little PC comes in six different styles – five shiny plastic varieties and a bamboo sleeve that was first seen as a concept earlier in the year.
A built in HDMI port as standard indicates that Dell see this as a living room computer attached to your flat screen television – but WiFi and wireless keyboard/mouse are optional extras.
The most interesting thing is perhaps the price point – with the US getting their hands on the kit for as little as $499 for the basic model – that’s around £250.

India Government is trying to make distant learning common with such campaigns. They are also planning to make low power and low cost devices and also to provide free internet for educational purposes (India’s internet rates are already cheapest in the world).
India’s Internet penetration is currently very low. The country had 4.38 million broadband subscribers at the end of June for a population of over 1.13 billion. Many giants of sofware industry have already outsourcied in India that performing active part in development of country’s sofware industry.
This notebook is adorned by the winning design from MTV/HP’s Global Design Competition and its really impressive piece of Art. It’s artistic looks really attracted me. Keypad is simple and soft to use. Its cool and smooth device but a little heavier. People are falling more on its design that its specs. At its early years of appearance, one needed $1,129.99 but now you can get it in $900.
The bad things are that it has only 2 USB ports, no fingerprint reader (No option to add it), no recovery CDs, and a little heavier.
