A system crash or a nasty virus attack is anyone’s worst nightmare. Losing all that valuable, confidential files, images or videos that makes up your digital life. So the message is back it up NOW! or don’t blame anyone afterwards.
Imagine, for example, losing all your server log files or last year’s invoices or even a complete database of customer records! Could there be anything worse then that?
Backups solutions have always been there to give you a new hope of life just incase you crashed, or more specifically, your digital world crashed!
There are several online backup services out there but if simplicity and trust are the defining features of it then Carbonite is the clear winner.
I was amazed to see how it rose to one of the most preferred online backup service in such a short span of time! There certainly has to be something really cool about it which I soon figured out: Damn simple piece of software; download and install and that about it! It starts backup up your files automatically which means you don’t have to drag and drop your proffered and confidential files which you want to backup into some crappy folder and then burn in into some backup drive. Those days are over now!
You actually dont have to do anything if you wish not to and this is a cool thing about this piece of backup service. You just download and install for a flat rate of 55$ a year and it will start backing up your entire hard drive! I can also specify individual folders to be backed up instead of whole drives.
The service runs smoothly by backing up 2GB/day of data on a DSL or Broadband line. The great thing about it is that it synchronizes the back up just like Windows Live Services and the like.
Security of your confidential data is ofcourse an issue which is nicely handled by encrypting everything that goes into the carbonite servers which means nothing is open for intruders and spiders.
So my final verdict: Carbonite is worth my money, giving the service as promised and keeping its customers happy.
