We have all been hearing Android 2.1 leaking into Droid Eris and it’s improved performance. Now the news is that a “nearly final release” OTA version of Android 2.1 has been spotted running on Motorola Droid.
We reported a few days back that the upcoming Flash Player 10.1 will only run on mobile devices that have ARM Cortex A8 chipsets. Now it’s confirmed. So what does this mean? Only 2 phones fulfill this hardware requirement: Google Nexus One and Motorola Droid. All other phones can enjoy Flash Lite at best.
According to the latest reports surfacing, only those Android phones which have ARMv7 (Cortex) processors will be able to update to the yet-to-be-released Flash 10.1. The reason being that only ARMv7 based chipsets are capable enough for all the processing needed for Flash 10.1 video content on the mobile web.
Google announced 6 new features for Gmail along with the ones that were in the development phase but won’t be added. They call that ‘graduation’ and ‘retirement’ respectively. Now Gmail will add video previews of all the YouTube video links you paste in your email. Besides, Auto complete has been added in the Gmail search.
For those who were anticipating Android 2.1 OTA for their Motorola Droid would be upset to hear that Android 2.1 OTA has been leaked first for the HTC Droid Eris users. The leaked update has been dubbed as OFFICIAL RELEASE but it still is more of a leak then an official release as Pete claims (the guy who posted the release).
We love rumors specially when they have to do with bubbling gadgetry. Folks at AndroidSPIN have received a build file which, if it’s true, shows that HTC is going to release HTC Scorpion that will surely leave Google Nexus One far far away. With 1.5Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Android 2.2, it’s going to be a geeks dream come true.
This is awesome. If you guys are bored with your iPhone’s or iPod touch’s lock screen then you surely have to try the Android Lock screen. It rarely happens that iPhone developers copy anything from the Android but because of Android lock screen’s degree of awesomeness, who will not be forced to mimic it on their iPhone?
After a comparatively long wait and after the release of Google Nexus One, A
ndroid SDK 2.1 Release 1 is out. Even though the release notes suggest that there are minor changes from the previous update but I will not categorize them as minor. Take a look at the updates yourself:
Google has officially unveiled Google Nexus One in the recent Google Phone Event. The phone, that is manufactured by HTC, has a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor that is one of the fastest integrated processors for wireless devices today and a 3.7-inch AMLED screen. It runs Android 2.1 Operating System and has many sensors like accelerometer, proximity and light sensors. The camera can snap 5 megapixels of photos with support of an LED flash.
Engadget has just exclusively unveiled the full specs of Google Nexus One Phone. Also the invite-only retail sales are getting started from January 5th. Possibly, current registered developers may also get access to the sales.
First unboxing pictures of Google Nexus One Phone are already leaked. Phillip Meredith has just added a photoset on Flickr revealing some more pictures of Google Nexus One Phone with iPhone comparison.
Rumors are that Motorola’s Backflip could possibly be headed towards AT&T to become it’s first Android phone offering. The phone has been codenamed as Motorola Enzo but the source claims that it’s very likely to be called Motorola Backflip on the launch day which could be very near. AT&T needed an Android phone and so be it. The phone will run latest Android 1.5
