The Google I/O of 2012 was a rather successful event, launching their very own tablet for the first time, Google were on the front foot and highlight of the month. Their tablet i.e. Nexus 7 flew off the shelves as if it were free; selling at $200 it really was a steal for a tablet powered by the Quad core NVidia Tegra 3 processor. Along with the announcement of the tablet, Google also announced their latest iteration of their mobile OS, yes the Android 4.1 Jellybean. Most popular of all the Android OS to launch yet, I say so because it took ICS around 2 months to reach 1% ICS on all devices, and even though Jellybean is a month old and only available for Galaxy nexus, Nexus 7 and Nexus S devices, it already has more coverage in market then ICS had at this stage.

So, have you tried the latest OS by Android? Android 4.1 aka Jellybean OS is the latest in queue after their successful Ice Cream Sandwich OS which brought major changes from the Gingerbread OS. Continuing the stream of changes, jellybean provides excellent user experience with buttery smooth interface (thanks to butter scotch project) and easier than before navigation.

As we all now jellybean started rolling out for the Nexus branded devices and the Galaxy Nexus was the first one to get it after the Nexus 7. Sadly; while most of the users in USA and Europe are enjoying the excellent experience of jellybean- users in Asia, Africa and other parts of the world are still waiting on it. We have devised a method that will force the Jellybean over the air (OTA) update on your phone without rooting or hacking but it will require you to flash a stock ROM via installer. What you are doing is that updating your phone to the version which received the OTA update already. This method works only if your device runs the yakju/takju of the Galaxy Nexus ROM. We are going to convert yakjuxw/jp versions to the mentioned above.

Disclaimer: This might void your warranty.
Note: It will erase everything from your phone, so make sure you have everything backed up.

The biggest craze in the world of smartphones this year is set to be the introduction of dual core processors with the world's first dual core handset, the LG Optimus 2X, already going on sale in Asian and European markets. Although beaten to the finish line in the United States by the Motorola Atrix 4G, the high powered LG smartphone is now coming to the United States in the form of the T-Mobile G2x which, as the name change would suggest, has had some slight modifications for the US market. However, aside from an increase in data connection speeds, these modifications are only slight and mean that US smartphone users will be able to enjoy the same great phone that is causing such a sensation elsewhere in the world.

Previously I covered how to get the famous Android Lock screen on your iPod Touch or iPhone. It really looks cool but the problem arises when you forget your lock pattern. There have been hundreds of such cases where you are locked out of your own iPod Touch because you forgot the lock pattern and there’s no simple way of uninstalling or removing the app.

LG seems to be having a lot of firsts in the mobile phone industry this year. They were the first phone manufacturer to announce a dual core smartphone in the form of the Optimus 2X, as well as the first to produce a 3D enabled tablet. LG have also extended this 3D technology to their smartphones with the latest LG Optimus 3D, which will be the first phone to come with 3D technology included.

The last couple of years have seen a resurgence in the popularity of 3D technology, largely due to Hollywood movie studios cracking down on movie piracy by offering something that the pirates cannot replicate. While many have seen the resurrection of 3D glasses at cinemas as little more than a gimmick, there is no denying that with recent technological improvements 3D has become hugely popular again. So much so that it is now migrating to other areas of the technological and entertainment world.

The next version of Google’s OS for mobile devices, Android version 3.0 codenamed “Handroid_3.0_honeycomboney comb” is not expected to be released in a tablet until later this year but Google , first accidently, uploaded a teaser video of the awesomeness of Android 3.0 on YouTube and quickly pulled it off but that small duration was enough for some to record the video. Google has now officially released the video and a small description of it’s Android 3.0 on it’s blog.

With the grand opening of Football World Cup 2010 hosted by South Africa, everyone hfifa_world_cup_2010as gone crazy about football. Even geeks. Google has launched a set of special search terms or should I say ‘search shortcuts’ for fans or anyone who want to fetch any kind of information regarding the World Cup without scanning through the search results. Just like looking up time on Google by simply searching ‘time in XYZ location’, you can now search schedule of the next 7 matches by simply searching ‘fifa worldcup schedule’ among other special shortcut terms.

So far, there were only a set of themes/templates available for your blog on Blogger and the worst of all was that those templates were not customizable in the true sense. All you could do was change the header image, font color and size besides a bunch of other small customizations. Now with the launch of Blogger Template Designer by Google itself, you can completely customize your template and give it a new look.

If you are a geek you would know that today’s 30th anniversary of Pac-Man, thpacman_google_doodlee game developed by Namco and then ported on almost every kind of device imaginable. Google is celebrating the 30th year of Pac-Man not by putting up Pac-Man’s doodle as it usually does, but by replacing it’s logo from Google.com and putting in place the Pac-Man game itself. You can play it right away on Google’s main page.

Android 2.1 update has been rolled out for Droid Eris and many have already received the OTA update (Over the Air) but it seems like Verizon Wireless is serially sending out the OTA which means many users will have to wait for probably another couple of days if not weeks to get Android 2.1 running on their Eris. Not anymore. You can download and update to Android 2.1 manually.

Even though Verizon Wireless has started rolling out Android 2.1 OTA (Over The Air) updates to Droid Eris phones but still there are many who have not received any. Here’s the procedure to manually update your Droid Eris to a legit copy of Android 2.1 right from Google’s servers (it’s not pre-release or Beta, it’s the one that’s being used in OTA).
