I stumbled across this collection of (very rare) Facebook UI shots over time. You may find some of the newer ones on the Internet Archive but it indeed is amazing to see how the User Interface of Facebook has changed over time, since it started from the dorm of Mark Zuckerberg. After unveiling of one of the epic features of Google+ called hangout that allows users to make video calls online with an awesome user experience, Facebook is now also announcing soon the the video calling feature that will allow Facebook users to make video calls.

Facebook video calling is not officially announced yet but it is ready and working! somewhere on internet, the direct link to the video calling page got leaked or discovered.

IE9 RC was already around for a couple of months now with news that Microsoft will be taking a leap ahead with the new Internet Explorer 9. It has landed now: Microsoft has released the final version of IE9 with a whole bunch of improvements. The main highlight is a new domain for browsers: utilizing GPUs (Graphics Processing Unit) for improved HTML5 and video encoding/decoding. Up until now, browsers mainly utilized CPUs even for compute intensive jobs. This changes with the new IE9.

We even went to the point of actually believing that it’s time for Flash to be replaced with the new open standards of playing video and animations on the mobile web. Yes, it’s now officially available at the Apple App Store. We first announced the news of Opera Mini submission to the App Store for approval and now Opera just announced that Apple has finally approved the “fastest browser on earth” for iPhone and iPod touch. There were doubts that Apple will not approve Opera because it competes with the native Safari browser for iPhone.

Mozilla Firefox 3.7 pre-alpha dubbed “Minefield” is out with some really great UI enhancements and an extensive use of Windows Vista/7 glass. In fact it seems like they’ve turned every portion of the UI into glass and this is really awesome. It’s still pre-alpha release but it gives you an idea of how Firefox 3.7 will look like.

The Aero effects in Windows 7 are really cool to start with but sometimes you can do not want so mwindows7-boxany thumbnails of your open tabs in Firefox to pop up every time you hover cursor over the Firefox tab in the taskbar. Or conversely, you may want the thumbnails to show up. Either way, here’s the simplest way to enable or disable thumbnail preview of your open tabs of Firefox in your Windows 7 taskbar.
