With the grand opening of Football World Cup 2010 hosted by South Africa, everyone hfifa_world_cup_2010as gone crazy about football. Even geeks. Google has launched a set of special search terms or should I say ‘search shortcuts’ for fans or anyone who want to fetch any kind of information regarding the World Cup without scanning through the search results. Just like looking up time on Google by simply searching ‘time in XYZ location’, you can now search schedule of the next 7 matches by simply searching ‘fifa worldcup schedule’ among other special shortcut terms.

Here’s what we have un-covered so far:

Schedule:

Simply search ‘fifa worldcup schedule’ and you will get a list containing the contesting teams, timings and dates of the matches. You can also add this to your iGoogle page.

Group/Team Info:

Simply search ‘group a fifa’ and a chart containing all the teams in that group, ‘A’ in our case, would come up with the current scores of all the teams that have played matches. The best thing I noticed is that you can also see a complete textual recap of the games that have been played so far by the teams of that group. See the recap link on the right of the following chart:

Match Information of Any Particular Team:

If you want to know quick info regarding the standing of any team, the list of matches that it has played or yet to play and it’s score and match schedule, simply search
‘fifa country_name’ (I tried fifa france)  and the chart will be on top of the search results showing all info that you possibly want:
