I have been thinking this in fact there has been alot of chatter on this but now as things are getting alot clearer, we have begun to see where Google is heading and why they hate Microsoft so much. Even though I have always loved Google for their innovation and started to think that Microsoft’s days are counted unless they evolve themselves.

Techcrunch leaked a post thread from ex Googlers revealing much details about WHY they left Google and apart from their personal experiences, one thing was glaringly coming out of the posts: Google thinks inside the box – the box being the browser. All their innovation goes into that box and truly so because that is where their success as well as future lies. But then they have an army of 18000 top notch developers thinking about what to invent in that tiny box? This really constraints their creative abilities and confines their productivity too. Everything that goes, goes inside this box and now they have one of their own too: Chrome. And this also explains the basis of the stories that Chrome is going to be the next OS.
Even in that tiny box where lies their primary battlefield, there have been serious failures like Google’s Knol and Orkut’s popularity is also badly hurt.
It seems to have been Google’s longstanding strategy to distribute small products across different markets (ofcourse all confined within that box) and then put Ads on them.
PS: That post thread of ex Googlers is worth reading and will give you more insight into “the 21st century’s most successful company” (part reality part sarcasm)
