This has nothing to do with Apple or *their* iPhone.

When a Windows vulnerability is found, do you blame Intel for their CPUs? Of course not. It's insecure software that runs on CPUs that is the problem. Likewise, if you run insecure and unsupported OS software on your iPhone, that's not the hardware maker's fault!

I believe the root account comes enabled by default; when I installed OpenSSH, I could immediately login as root.

Uh, what? Isn't this just affecting people who leave the root/username password set to 'alpine'? In other words, idiots?

You get what you ask for. You jailbreak and mess with your phone, you're doing exactly that. Messing with the phone, and the results may be a somewhat unwanted and unexpected. This plays perfectly INTO Apple's hands despite what you suggest that Apple should even be responsible for keeping jailbroken phones secure.

Dude, don't be so ignorant - only jailbroken iPhones, a practice that Apple clearly forbids, are affected by this flaw.

So opening root up to SSH and telling the entire world your password is a security risk? Who'd a thunk it...

You twonk.

Sounds like non-jailbroken iPhones are perfectly safe, how does it have anything to do with Apple?
