The whole idea behind Cloud was to liberate you from the shackles of endless har%tagsdware monitoring, hiring a dedicated team to keep your servers humming and draining tens of thousands of precious capital on simply making sure you’re well equipped to deal with traffic spikes. You seldom failed. Then came Cloud Computing promising to give you freedom from all the hardware so you concentrate on your service rather then worrying about how to keep it running. No endless nightshifts of those nerdy creatures you called ‘server guys’.

But there’s something that’s missing: You still need to monitor your Amazon EC2 instances, Disk bandwidth and the overall performance of ‘your cloud’ while you’re on the go. What could be better than monitoring everything right from your iPhone or Android device? This is what DECAF does: It lets you monitor your cloud (instances, memory bandwidth, Network performance and a lot more) right from your mobile device. The interface is just like any other iPhone app which means it’s really user friendly with great UX.

The dashboard provides you with all the information you want to see when you ‘glance’ your account:

With the widget showing you live monitoring information on CPU, disk and network, you can check the health of your infrastructure continuously:

In the instance screen you can launch, terminate and reboot your instance. All the details of your instance you want to monitor are shown and you can manage your instance in all ways you need:

It’s available for both iPhone and Android devices and is also contesting the Android Developer Challenge. Let’s hope it wins.
