No Doodle on Google on World’s AIDS day

Google has Holiday Logos (also called Doodles) on special days like Valentine’s Day, Father’s day and First hot air balloon flight day e.t.c but why not a Doodle on world’s AIDS day?

AIDS is one of the deadliest diseases with no cure but treatment can keep the virus under control and the immune system healthy. People on HIV treatment can live a healthy, active life, although they may experience side effects from the treatment. If HIV is diagnosed late, treatment may be less effective in preventing AIDS.

Due to deadly spread of this virus, many campaigns like Product Red have been started for awareness. Google showed a little red ribbon on home page instead of a Doodle.

In American schools, Red Ribbon Week is held to fight substance abuse. Using red ribbons on Google may be confusing. We've been using red ribbons to signify the fight against substance abuse long before AIDS took it over in '91.

Invention of the First Laser, Anniversary of the first ascent of Mount Everest, Leap Year and few others are also not holidays but Google has Doodles for them.
