why ? ….. in this page all people talk about a suite not a operating system. Ubuntu is a OS not a Suite. Ubuntu is good, same win 7. Is personal use one o the other. A replacement for MS Office is OpenOffice, not is perfect (however i think that OO is better than MS Office) but is free. I like Ubuntu, then i use Ubuntu is simply. Thanks

Don't you have to mount the cd first.

E.g.:

sudo mkdir /media/sr0

sudo mount /dev/sr0 /media/sr0

wine /media/sr0/setup.exe

Hi,
I am trying to install Office 2007 on Ubuntu 9.04. I followed the description above and installed wine, winetricks and utilized winetrict without any problems, and got to “install CD and run setup.” Doing setup, after typing in the key it says it has found an error and ends the setup. Any idea of what the problem is? The only thing I noticed during the installation of winetricks is that the screen is blinking in a very strange way, almost like it is shifting between the windows quickly. I tried to run wine pathToCD/setup.exe in the terminal, but it says it can't be found

any news regarding the “save as pdf” issue?
I installed the save as pdf .exe file from MS's website, but Word freezes when I hit the save as pdf…

When i execute the command wine /media/OFFICE12/setup.exe

I get an error saying: invalid windows version.

What to do?

Nice tutorial, but no good for my uses. I have tried at least 10 different office-2007 install procedures and can get power point, word, and excel to work fine, but OOo handles theses task just as well for me. My issue is in dealing with Exchange Server and the outlook piece in an enterprise environment. When going through setup, the installer screen just blanks out and hangs.

Hi,

I have done all the steps mentioned in the tutorial, but the last step. I cannot execute setup.exe in the terminal because somehow I seem to have the wrong path to the cdrom drive.

I typed df in the terminal. My cd-rom drive has the path /dev/sr0 and the cd has the name OFFICE12
when i type wine /dev/sr0/setup.exe it says something like "no such file or directory".

How do I find the correct path to my cd-rom drive or even more important: my setup.exe file?

Because in desktop mode, I can click the cd-rom and execute setup.exe but then it asks which program to use to open the file.

Hope you can help.
