Microsoft SQL Server (a relational database management system that uses Transact-SQL as its primary query language) with the latest version Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP2 is rumoured to release its new version MS SQL Server 2008 Code Name Katmai at July 31, 2008.

Currently, the latest build is RC0 (released in early June). Microsoft’s official saying is still to throw it in third quarter of 2008. But Emil Protalinski of arstechnica.com who says he talked to a Microsoft representative Microsoft representative the other day regarding implementation of Dynamics AX 2009 and was told that the scheduled release date now is 31 July.

He says

One should never rule out the possibility of a delay. The new version has already appeared on the August price list (pricing is the same as the previous version) but this does not necessarily mean that we’ll see it in August
