The next version of Google’s OS for mobile devices, Android version 3.0 codenamed “H
oney comb” is not expected to be released in a tablet until later this year but Google , first accidently, uploaded a teaser video of the awesomeness of Android 3.0 on YouTube and quickly pulled it off but that small duration was enough for some to record the video. Google has now officially released the video and a small description of it’s Android 3.0 on it’s blog.
With the grand opening of Football World Cup 2010 hosted by South Africa, everyone h
as gone crazy about football. Even geeks. Google has launched a set of special search terms or should I say ‘search shortcuts’ for fans or anyone who want to fetch any kind of information regarding the World Cup without scanning through the search results. Just like looking up time on Google by simply searching ‘time in XYZ location’, you can now search schedule of the next 7 matches by simply searching ‘fifa worldcup schedule’ among other special shortcut terms.
If you are a geek you would know that today’s 30th anniversary of Pac-Man, th

Google is celebrating the 30th year of Pac-Man not by putting up Pac-Man’s doodle as it usually does, but by replacing it’s logo from Google.com and putting in place the Pac-Man game itself. You can play it right away on Google’s main page.

Android 2.1 update has been rolled out for Droid Eris and many have already received the OTA update (Over the Air) but it seems like Verizon Wireless is serially sending out the OTA which means many users will have to wait for probably another couple of days if not weeks to get Android 2.1 running on their Eris. Not anymore. You can download and update to Android 2.1 manually.
Even though Verizon Wireless has started rolling out Android 2.1 OTA (Over The Air) updates to Droid Eris phones but still there are many who have not received any. Here’s the procedure to manually update your Droid Eris to a legit copy of Android 2.1 right from Google’s servers (it’s not pre-release or Beta, it’s the one that’s being used in OTA).
Google mail users in UK will now be able to convert their @googlemail.com accoun
ts to @gmail.com accounts, according to the official release from Google. The move is probably aimed at unifying the Gmail brand name. For those who do not remember, Gmail actually started off as Google Mail before switching to Gmail but it did not happen in UK up until now.
After porting Google Android to iPhone 2G, David Wang, the same guy behind the Android port to iPhone project has now extended Android to run on iPhone 3G. He has released the video showing Android running on his iPhone 3G.
Running a small particle generation experiment to see FPS (Frames per Second) on my iPod touch 3.1.3 clearly shows that there’s marginal difference between HTML5 Canvas rendering engine optimized to run on Safari that comes with iPhone/iPod touch and iPad and plain old HTML and JavaScript. Moreover, HTML5 comparison on iPod touch and Nexus One is absolutely astonishing.
This was considered to be something next to impossible but a geek has finally made this unholy marriage a reality by porting Android to his iPhone 2G. It’s running fine except for some lags and he says that it will not be a problem porting this Android image to iPhone 3G and 3Gs but will he be able to port it to iPad? Anyways, he says that the ground work has been done and it will be easy to port “Google’s Android” to any of “iDevice”.
Hiring 200 goats to do the job of a single lawn mower might sound foolish for a company like Google but they will disagree. First the news: Google has hired 200 goats from the California Grazing for the purpose of mowing their lawns at their headquarters in Mountain View, California.

Seems like the battle grounds are going to turn red hot when Apple reportedly is going to launch it’s very own mobile advertising platform on April 7th, just 3 days after the very first iPads ship.
Google is catching up but it’s strategy is a little different. It is targeting small businesses and enterprises instead of end users. Over 2 million businesses are now using Google
Apps and now they’ve also launched Google Apps marketplace to share the wealth with third party developers.
