The next version of Google’s OS for mobile devices, Android version 3.0 codenamed “Honey comb” is not expected to be released in a tablet until later this year but Google , first accidently, uploaded a teaser video of the awesomeness of Android 3.0 on YouTube and quickly pulled it off but that small duration was enough for some to record the video. Google has now officially released the video and a small description of it’s Android 3.0 on it’s blog.

Google has launched a set of special search terms or should I say ‘search shortcuts’ for fans or anyone who want to fetch any kind of information regarding the World Cup without scanning through the search results. Just like looking up time on Google by simply searching ‘time in XYZ location’, you can now search schedule of the next 7 matches by simply searching ‘fifa worldcup schedule’ among other special shortcut terms.

If you are a geek you would know that today’s 30th anniversary of Pac-Man, the game developed by Namco and then ported on almost every kind of device imaginable. Google is celebrating the 30th year of Pac-Man not by putting up Pac-Man’s doodle as it usually does, but by replacing it’s logo from Google.com and putting in place the Pac-Man game itself. Android 2.1 update has been rolled out for Droid Eris and many have already received the OTA update (Over the Air) but it seems like Verizon Wireless is serially sending out the OTA which means many users will have to wait for probably another couple of days if not weeks to get Android 2.1 running on their Eris. Not anymore. You can download and update to Android 2.1 manually.

Even though Verizon Wireless has started rolling out Android 2.1 OTA (Over The Air) updates to Droid Eris phones but still there are many who have not received any. Here’s the procedure to manually update your Droid Eris to a legit copy of Android 2.1 right from Google’s servers (it’s not pre-release or Beta, it’s the one that’s being used in OTA).

Google mail users in UK will now be able to convert their @googlemail.com accounts to @gmail.com accounts, according to the official release from Google. The move is probably aimed at unifying the Gmail brand name. For those who do not remember, Gmail actually started off as Google Mail before switching to Gmail but it did not happen in UK up until now.

Hiring 200 goats to do the job of a single lawn mower might sound foolish for a company like Google but they will disagree. First the news: Google has hired 200 goats from the California Grazing for the purpose of mowing their lawns at their headquarters in Mountain View, California.

Google has already announced it’s updated set of native apps for the iPad which will ship with it and now it has released a new interface for the GMail app for iPad with improved UI. The new GMail app can be accessed through Safari browser on the iPad or through the Mail app.
