IE9 RC was already around for a couple of months now with news that Microsoft will be taking a
leap ahead with the new Internet Explorer 9. It has landed now: Microsoft has released the final version of IE9 with a whole bunch of improvements. The main highlight is a new domain for browsers: utilizing GPUs (Graphics Processing Unit) for improved HTML5 and video encoding/decoding. Up until now, browsers mainly utilized CPUs even for compute intensive jobs. This changes with the new IE9.
With HP Slate almost gone, ExoPC’s Windows 7 powered tablet will be the first Windows 7 powered tablet. ExoPC’s founder has announced that Windows 7 tablet will be launching in US, Canada and France on September 7, three months from now.
A company in Hong Kong has made an iPhone looking tablet PC running on Windows 7 while the rest of the geek world is still busy running Android on iPhone 2G. They are calling it the “iPhone Tablet”. This enlarged iPhone tablet was displayed at the annual HKEF (SE) 2010.
Microsoft has finally put the complete Touch Pack for Windows 7 touch PCs up for download. Up until now, the pack was only available for OEMs but due to what Microsoft said in the official blog post, the demand of the users that now they have made the complete pack publicly downloadable by anyone.
Dell Lightning is going to be the first Windows Phone 7 release from Dell and it sure is different from the WP7 prototypes we have seen recently. The phone is a portrait slider which means it has a lot of buttons but that’s not always so bad. What’s delightfully amazing are the specs Dell Lightning comes laden with. Right now it’s just on the slides and is expected to be released by the end of this year to coincide with WP7 official release.

Just today we showed you how to transform your Windows 7/Vista or XP desktop into a Windows Phone 7 UI and now there’s another interesting development. Woocash-kun has created a Windows Phone 7 theme for his iPhone which can also be put on iPod touch. He has not yet released it and says that “he will only release it when he changes to another theme” but has put up some pictures and a video showing the awesomeness of the entirely new UI design of Windows Phone 7.
How about a little change? Since Windows Phone 7 is not available on any real phone at the moment (except for a video showing HTC HD2 running Windows Phone 7 OS) how about transforming your Desktop (Windows XP, Vista, 7 supported) into Windows Phone 7 UI (User Interface)?
Amid huge interest built up around Windows 7, Microsoft has decided to extend Windows 7 Enterprise trial version’s expiry till the end of this year, which was previously 90 days from the time you first started using it.
Microsoft said Windows Phone 7 won’t be coming to HTC HD2 since it does not fulfill the requirements but who can bind software to any particular device nowadays? It was just a matter of time and it seems it took lesser time then expected and now we have Windows Phone 7 OS running on HTC HD2!
