These might be regarded as rumors in the wild for now but there’s a reason why they’re revolving around. Apple currently uses Toshiba’s flash memory modules in it’s iPhone and iPod touch. iPhone can only support one flash chip and the largest Toshiba flash chip is 32GB. Not anymore. Toshiba just announced that is has developed a 64GB flash memory module intended to be used in smart phones and a range of other devices. So why is this important since we already have larger memory modules available.

You missed the point. Since Apple uses Toshiba’s memory and now since Toshiba is offering 64GB flash memory module that will go into production in the first quarter of 2010, there are thick chances that the new iPhone update to be announced in coming Spring will have 65GB memory bypassing all other major competitors whom it already leads by a major margin in terms of memory alone besides otheimager factors.

So Apple will probably hit another major users market with an extended thirst for memory and this is definitely going to be a pleasant addition to the next iPhone coming in the next Spring.

As for iPod touch, it currently supports upto two memory modules so the next iPod will most probably have 64X2GB memory.

Keep your fingers crossed.
