The Release Candidate of the next generation Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 is available for download (starting from today, 9th February 2010) for the MSDN subscribers and will be available for download for everyone else from February 10, 2010. The VS 2010 RC comes with .NET framework 4 and a bundle of improvements from the previous RC.

There have been some significant performance improvements from RC 2 as Jason Zander of Microsoft Visual Studio team explained:

  • General UI responsiveness has been enhanced
  • Improved Memory usage since all the new modules were consuming a lot of memory and in some cases were burning all the 2 GB of memory available on 32-bit address space.
  • Build and debugging times have been reduced
  • Solution and Project load timings have also been reduced to make it fast.
