Rumors are after all not always wrong. As expected and reported by ProgrammerFish, iPad pre-order will indeed begin from 12th March for the US consumers and the first iPad will be shipped beginning 3rd April 2010. There are some more exciting developments too.
Apple will ship 12 native apps with iPad but the ultimate “Kindle killer” as some described it, the iBooks app will not be shipped but will be available for free download from the App Store.
Previously there was some talk regarding the compatibility issues with the current 150,000 apps listed on the App Store but it’s now said that ALL the apps that are built for iPhone and iPod touch will also run on iPad.
The pricing has remained the same with the lowest Wi-Fi only 16GB model starting from $499. Consumers in US can pre-order either on the Apple site or their nearest Apple Store. So the release schedule could be summed up as:
